Context
Students were presented with a line drawing made up of several simple shapes and other lines. Students were required to recognise triangles amongst other shapes in the drawing. They were asked to colour in all of the triangles in the drawing but no other shapes.

- The student colours in most of the six triangles, but did not recognise some of the triangles where the orientation or size may be less familiar such as the cone of the ice-cream or the girl’s hat. The student did not colour in any shapes that are not triangles.
