Interpersonal Development Assessment Map – Sample at 1.75

Feel the beat

Context

In a music lesson, students focused on working cooperatively with a partner, who was not their normal choice. This activity focused on knowledge of behaviours that promote positive social behaviours and respond to the needs and feelings of their partner. The music lesson required students to work in pairs and follow a short rhythmic pattern created by the teacher. In pairs, students interacted with each other using body percussion following the same beat, for example, clapping hands together. The students then presented their improvisation to the class. Students completed a self-assessment reflecting on how they worked with their partner.

The elements of the Building social relationships standard addressed by the task are:

(Students) behave appropriately in a range of social situations.

(Students) identify the feelings and needs of other people.
