Health and Physical Education Assessment Map - Sample at 2.5
Ball skills in games and activities
Context
Students were asked to demonstrate a range of ball skills in simple drill activities, minor games and basic sport-specific situations. Students developed and refined the ball skills of the ball bounce, pass, catch and forehand strike. When applied in a basic sport-specific context, modified rules were developed. For example, the rules were modified in the game context to allow students to stop, regain possession and recommence a dribble once before passing.
Prior to undertaking this assessment task students participated in a unit which focused on developing these skills in simple drill and partner activities and small group minor games with a sport-specific focus.
The element of the Movement and physical activity Level 3 standard addressed by this task is:
(Students) demonstrate a wide variety of motor skills and apply them to basic, sport-specific situations.
