Locomotor and manipulative skills
Context
Students were asked to demonstrate a range of basic to more complex locomotor and manipulative skills through simple individual and partner activities. Students performed skills such as the run, catch, vertical jump, single rope jumping, ball bounce and leap.
Prior to undertaking this assessment task students participated in a unit which focused on developing these skills in individual, partner, drill and relay activities.

Movement and physical activity – 1.5
- Performs a variety of basic motors skills (run and catch) demonstrating competency of a range of components of each skill.
- Displays good arm and upper body position in the run.
- Good preparatory position with hand moving to meet the ball in the catch.
- Beginning to develop more complex skills such as single rope jumping, ball bounce and leap.
- Limited co-ordination of arm and leg movement during single rope jumping.
- Good hand and body position during ball bounce.
- Leaping from one foot to the other but arm and upper body positioning need refinement.
