Spending wisely
Context
This task was part of a unit of work that focused on developing students’ personal financial management skills. Through class discussion and brainstorming activities, students identified strategies that can support their decision-making when spending money. Students were then asked to select three strategies that they considered would be of most benefit to their own personal situation and explain why these strategies supported them in making decisions about spending.
Using subject specific language students were required to:
- identify strategies that would support effective decision-making when spending money
- demonstrate an understanding of why it is important to be an informed consumer
- explain how selected strategies support effective decision making when spending money.
The element of the Economic knowledge and understanding Level 5 standard addressed by this task is:
Students make informed economic and consumer decisions, demonstrating the development of personal financial literacy.
