Responding to an issue

Context

Prior to undertaking the task, student groups identified issues in the local area. They were asked to undertake further research about the issue. Students individually produced a draft of a report which included an explanation of the issue, arguments for and against and a personal opinion. Feedback on the draft was provided by the teacher. Students were then asked to write a report about the issue and present it electronically.

The elements of the Community engagement Level 4 standard addressed by this task are:

(Students) present a point of view on a significant current issue or issues and include recommendations about the actions that individuals and governments can take to resolve issues.
