Program Models
Three broad approaches schools are using to developing curriculum are:
- Discipline/subject-based programs - where schools choose to incorporate standards from the Interdisciplinary and Physical, Personal and Social Learning strands into existing discipline-based subjects and broaden their focus.
- Extended programs - where all three strands are combined in the context of extended projects.
- Integrated programs - where one or more disciplines and other relevant domains are combined and addressed through key questions or themes.
Some schools use a combination of these programs in their curriculum delivery. Other schools ensure that the learning opportunities provided in co-curricular programs become an integral part of their whole school curriculum program.
