Introduction Domain Structure The structure of the Mathematics domain which includes information on the Learning focus, standards and dimensions. Stages of Learning The VELS take account of the developmental stages of learning young people experience at school. Approaches to Teaching This advice offers a range of strategies and resources which provide teachers with examples that inform and elaborate the standards. Relationships to Other Domains This advice identifies how concepts and skills in this domain complement student learning in other domains. Pathways As students approach the end of the compulsory years of schooling they begin to make choices about their preferred areas of and pathways for learning. Computer algebra system (CAS) technology at Level 6 This advice is designed to assist teachers in planning curriculum that incorporates CAS technology into Mathematics teaching and learning programs. It is based on Level 6 of the VELS. The corresponding mathematics courses will be typically implemented across Years 9 and 10. Glossary Definitions of key terms used in the Mathematics domain.
