
These work samples form part of the assessment map for Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Other parts of the ICT assessment map can be accessed by using the menu on the right.
The ICT Level 5 standards describe what students should know and be able do at this level.
The assessment tasks which generated these work samples were designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate achievement of selected elements of the standard. The work samples illustrate progress towards, but do not fully demonstrate achievement of, the selected elements of the standard.
Context
Students were asked to use advanced search skills to locate information to assist in preparation for a debate on the topic of Victoria’s water. Students were also asked to judge the integrity of the websites found. Students were familiar with techniques for using the Internet to refine their searches.

(Students) use complex search strategies to refine their searches. They judge the integrity of the located information based on its credibility, accuracy, reliability and comprehensiveness.

A. Applies advanced search strategies using search engines to reduce results listings for some searches.
B. Determines the integrity of the information by applying the presented criteria of credibility, accuracy, reliability and comprehensiveness of the information located.
Context
In pairs, students were asked to investigate a key provision of the Copyright Act and develop a short script illustrating a typical situation in which this key provision would be tested.
Students then used equipment such as a scanner and a digital camera to depict the background setting of their scenario and record their short play, using hand puppets. For VCAA purposes only the content of the script was considered.
