The work samples in this section form the Level 3 part of the assessment map for Interpersonal Development. Other parts of the assessment map can be accessed by using the menu on the right side of the screen.
The Interpersonal Development Level 3 standard describe what students should know and be able to do at this level. The following work samples illustrate the kinds of responses that students produce when they are working at the Level 3 standard.
Annotations identify for each sample attributes of the student response that relate to specific elements of the standard.
Context
In a Mathematics class students worked in teams on a tessellation and design task. Students had to demonstrate a reflection, slide and turn of a hand from a fixed position. Groups produced a chart to show each new position of the reflection, slide and turn. Students then completed a self-assessment on how they worked in a team to complete the task.
The elements of the Working in teams standard addressed by the task are:
(Students) cooperate with others in team for agreed purposes, taking roles … within the task.
(Students) describe and evaluate their own contribution and the team’s progress towards the achievement of agreed goals.

Context
In a physical education class, students focused on providing encouragement for a partner or other members of a team. This activity focused on building harmonious social relationships and responding to the needs and feelings of others in the class.
Over a number of lessons students completed a range of activities both in small teams and with a partner. Activities included completing an obstacle course with a partner and participating in team running games.
Students were observed by the teacher, who recorded her observations of their skills in offering assistance, giving feedback and providing encouragement for others in their group.
The elements of the Building social relationships Level 3 standard addressed by the task are:
(Students) demonstrate respect for others and exhibit appropriate behaviour for maintaining friendships with other people. They support each other by … offering assistance, giving appropriate feedback and acknowledging individual differences.
