Assessment of Learning PowerPoint
The Assessment of learning: Standards, assessment maps and progression points PowerPoint presentation is designed to help teachers think about how they can use the standards, assessment maps and progression points, to assist their assessment of student learning against the VELS.
The PowerPoint presentation includes diagrams that provide a visual representation of key understandings in relation to the processes and requirements of assessment of learning. The key understandings include: characteristics of effective assessment; planning and gathering assessment evidence; and making on-balance judgments of student achievement.
Schools are encouraged to use the PowerPoint presentation to focus teacher discussion about assessment in the VELS. Schools can choose to select all or some of the slides from the detailed PowerPoint presentation according to development needs of staff. The PowerPoint presentation also provides references to other resources developed by the VCAA and can further assist in assessment of student learning.
